59 Instagram Auto DM Templates You Can Copy and Paste (2026)
59 ready-to-use Instagram auto DM templates for freebies, prices, bookings, follow gates, email capture, Story replies and Hinglish, plus Meta's rules.
Below are 59 auto-DM templates you can copy, grouped by what you're sending: freebies, prices, bookings, product links, ask-to-follow messages, email and phone capture, follow-ups, Story replies, public comment replies and Hinglish versions. Swap the parts in [brackets] for your own details.
They work in any Instagram DM tool that uses Meta's official API, including HeyDM. Read the five rules first; they're what keep automated DMs from being reported as spam.
Five Rules Before You Copy
- Deliver what the post promised, in the first DM. Meta allows one private reply per comment, so the first message has to carry the link or the answer. Unless you're using a follow gate, don't make people reply "YES" before they get what they asked for.
- One message, one action. One link, or one question. Two links and a question get ignored.
- Write like you talk. Short lines, the person's name if your tool supports it, an emoji at most. Avoid "Dear user".
- Stay under 1,000 bytes. That's Meta's limit for a text message. Emojis and Hindi script take more bytes than English letters, so keep long Hinglish messages in Roman script.
- Follow up only with people who replied. Meta lets you keep messaging only within 24 hours of the person's last message. A follow-up to someone who never answered isn't possible through the official API.

Ask to Follow (Follow Gate)
These go out when someone who doesn't follow you comments. Your tool checks the follow and sends the link once they've followed.
- "Hey [name]! The link is for followers only. Hit follow and tap the button below, and it'll arrive straight away."
- "Almost there! Follow [@handle] and tap 'Get the link', and I'll send it right over."

- "The template is ready! Reply with your email and I'll send it there too, so it doesn't get lost in your DMs."
- "Thanks! Drop your email below and you'll get the 5-day mini course, one lesson a day."
- "For a quote, reply with your name, city and phone number, and our team will call you within 24 hours."

Follow-ups (Only After They Reply)
Send these only when the person has replied or tapped a button, and within 24 hours of that.

- "Glad you liked it! If you want help putting it into practice, the full program is here: [link]."
- "Thanks for the reply! Here's the size chart you asked about: [link]."
- "Great question. Short answer: [answer]. Longer explanation here: [link]."

- "Glad you liked the Story! The product's here: [link]. Ask me anything about it."
- "Thanks for the reaction! Today's offer ends at midnight: [link]."
A note on Stories: Instagram only lets tools respond to Story replies, reactions and mentions. Views, poll taps and link-sticker taps can't trigger a DM. More in our Story automation guide.
Shared Posts and DM Keywords
- (Someone shares your Reel to your DMs) "Thanks for sharing this! Here's the link from the Reel: [link]."
- (Someone DMs "PRICE") "Hi! Our full price list is here: [link]. Reply with the product name if you want details."
- (Someone DMs "HELP") "Sorry you're stuck! Tell me what happened and I'll reply myself as soon as I can. Meanwhile, the FAQ is here: [link]."
Public Comment Replies
Short replies under the comment show others that the DM is real. Rotate several so they don't look copied.
- "Sent! Check your DMs π©"
- "Done, [name]! It's in your inbox."
- "Just sent it, enjoy!"
- "Check your requests folder if you don't see it π"
Hinglish DMs for Indian Audiences

Turning These Into Automations
Pick one template per post, set the keyword in your caption ("Comment GUIDE"), and test from a second account before you publish. If you use HeyDM, AI message variations can rewrite your chosen template into several versions so a thousand commenters don't all get identical text, and Smart Safe Mode spaces them out during a spike. New to this? Start with how to auto-send a DM when someone comments.
FAQs
What should an Instagram auto DM say?
Whatever the post promised, in the first message: the link, the price or the booking page, plus one short line that sounds like you. Keep any question for after they have what they came for.
How long can an automated Instagram DM be?
Meta's limit for a text message is 1,000 bytes, roughly 1,000 English characters and fewer if you use emojis or Hindi script. Most good auto-DMs are under 300 characters.
Can I send a follow-up to people who didn't reply?
No. Through Meta's official API you can only keep messaging someone within 24 hours of their last message. If they never replied after the first DM, the conversation ends there.
Should I put links in automated DMs?
Yes, that's what most auto-DMs are for. Use your full link from a reputable domain, and send one link per message.
Do I need to disclose affiliate links in DMs?
If you earn a commission or were paid, say so. In India, ASCI's influencer guidelines ask for clear disclosure of material connections, and a short "affiliate link" line in the DM covers it.
